Dr. Jean Paul J Gonzalez

Doctor of Medicine (internal Medicine) PhD (Virology) MS (Tropical Diseases) MS (Zoology)Faculty Member at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., United States.

Professor Gonzalez published 12 book chapters and over 320 articles on emerging infectious diseases, zoonoses, and viral hemorrhagic fevers. He serves on several editorial boards and is a frequent reviewer for leading journals in global health, virology, and epidemiology. His research focuses on One Health approach, biosurveillance, and the ecology of infectious diseases, combining field investigations with advanced laboratory analyses. He has collaborated with world-renowned institutions, including the Pasteur Institute (France), World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and research centers across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, leading major international programs on epidemic preparedness and biosecurity.

He is a Professor of Medical Microbiology, with his work on infectious diseases, microbial pathogenesis, and bacteriophage therapy. His research has pioneered the use of bacteriophages as alternatives to antibiotics. He has authored over 296 publications, with more than 9822 citations. He is a Fellow of the Association of Microbiologists of India and a Member of the National Academy of Sciences, India. He is the past president of the Society for Bacteriophage Research and Therapy. He is currently serving as an ICMR Emeritus Scientist in the department, which advances phage research and fosters global collaborations.

Dr. Ayaid K. Zgair

Dr. Ayaid K. Zgair

He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology with over 20 years of experience in academic and research institutions. He has authored numerous scientific papers and presented his work at 23 international conferences. As principal investigator for eight international projects, his research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, biofilm formation, immunopathology, virological diseases, and novel antimicrobial strategies. From 2014 to 2020, he served as Director of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the University of Baghdad, promoting global academic collaboration. He is also a reviewer for several international journals and has supervised many M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, strengthening research capacity in microbiology worldwide.

His editorial vision blends scientific rigor with clarity, inspiring cross-disciplinary dialogue across Africa and beyond. He is a Member of the African Vaccinology Network, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, the International Veterinary Vaccinology Network, the BactiVac Network, the University of Birmingham, the Ethiopian Medical Laboratory Association, and the Ethiopian Public Health Laboratory Association.

Dr. İbrahim held an academic position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology at Süleyman Demirel University, Turkey. His research interests cover various aspects of microbiology and related pharmaceutical fields. His primary areas of focus include assessing the antimicrobial effectiveness of nanocarrier systems and developing innovative pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations. Additionally, he explores the anti-quorum-sensing and antimicrobial properties of natural products. While mainly focusing on biofilm formation, virulence factors, and beta-lactamase resistance mechanisms in hospital-acquired pathogens, he also contributes to studies on COVID-19 and other viral infections.
